SysOp Information for StatMaster Shareware Version 2.1
This information is provided for users and BBS system operators who wish
to place copies of StatMaster onto Bulletin Board Systems (BBS's).
StatMaster Desktop Demographics provides demographic, economic, and geo-
graphic information for the entire U.S., its four census regions, nine divi-
sions, 50 states, Washington DC, and every county, city and place (location
with over 2,500 population in 1980) in a single state. The StatMaster data-
base manager permits users to perform rankings, to display statistics, and to
perform Boolean AND searches. Each state version contains an average of about
18,000 census statistics extracted from the 1988 County and City Data Book,
published by the Bureau of the Census. 1990 data (approximately 50 new sta-
tistics) from the "1990 Census of Population and Housing: P.L. 94-171" will
be provided to registered users in October or September of 1991 at no addi-
tional charge.
There are 50 individual state versions of StatMaster. For this reason,
it's important that user's are able to identify which state version they are
working with. If you plan to ZIP this StatMaster archive, you will save space
if you simply ZIP the existing self-extracting PAK file. We recommend a file-
name format of "STAT-xx.ZIP." Substitute the two-letter state code of the
state version being offered for "xx.".
The INSTALL.BAT file and the .COM files on the shareware distribution disk
are used to facilitate installation of the program from floppy to a hard
drive. All that is required for your BBS is the STAT-xx.EXE file. To extract
the files from STAT-xx.EXE, users must use the syntax: STAT-xx pathname.
Additional state versions of StatMaster are available. All 50 state ver-
sions are available for downloading from Doug's Farside BBS in Tempe, Arizona.
This 24-hour BBS uses a U.S. Robotics HST-1440 modem and supports 9600 baud
transfers. The BBS number is (602)897-8867. If you wish to leave comments
or suggestions regarding StatMaster, leave a message for Ed Prestwood. For
voice contact, please call CyberSoft direct at (602)491-0022.
